How would your life be different if you had your own personal board of directors? Ten men that provide advice and counsel on business decisions, marriage and relationship issues, parenting, finances, friendship and social issues, and every other area of life?

Not only that, what if that same group of men were committed to helping each other grow in seven areas of life:

  1. Financial Income, Investments
  2. Physical/Health
  3. Personal Development
  4. Family
  5. Spiritual
  6. Social
  7. Business/Career

That’s exactly what you get as a member of The Anvil Mastermind!

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another

Proverbs 27:17

You may have heard that Bible verse, and if iron sharpens iron it happens for us in The Anvil Mastermind! An anvil is “a heavy steel or iron block with a flat top, concave sides, and typically a pointed end, on which metal can be hammered and shaped.” That’s what The Anvil Masterminds are! We are the place where iron sharpens iron.

The Anvil Masterminds are teams of Christian men brought together to increase the enjoyment, effectiveness and productivity of the lives of participants – professionally, personally, and spiritually.  The program requires an ongoing commitment by its members and includes the benefits of:

  • Executive roundtable
  • Accountability
  • Business consulting
  • Personal Coaching
  • A think tank
  • Social gathering
  • Lifelong friendships

It’s key values include but are not limited to:

  • Trust
  • Support
  • Encouragement
  • Inspiration
  • Relevance
  • Significance

You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.

Anvil Meetings

Every group will have a weekly virtual meeting, one hour in duration at a predetermined start and end time.  Time is valuable, so we are always punctual with both our beginning and end.  Special Events are also offered and encouraged on a quarterly basis.

Purpose

Our group provides men with accountability and encouragement, challenging one another to grow in faith, knowledge, and application in our lives.   As we see opportunities to “speak the truth in love” we acknowledge the privilege and responsibility of doing so – in our weekly meetings or anytime during the week.  Our strength derives in part from our diversity; we are not looking for consensus but for “iron sharpening iron.”

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new.

Curriculum/Content

Through the year, our curricular direction will be dictated by the needs of the participants.  Books and book studies serve as a stimulus for discussion but are always secondary to our own life application and personal sharing.  Further, guest speakers and other external content may be brought to the group to further the interests and development of members.  We encourage open discussion of challenging areas in our lives; not only to walk together through heartache and unavoidable crises, but to help avoid those crises when possible.  We will deepen our friendships and experience a connection seldom experienced by men today.

Tools

Books, videos and studies may be utilized covering topics ranging from business (leadership and money) to personal (marriage and sex) to spiritual concerns (scripture and prayer).  Additionally, development and evaluation tools (e.g. Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, DiSC Profile, Personal Evaluation Profile, EQ tests, and others) may be used to aid in the improvement and development of participants.

Deliberately seek the company of people who influence you to think and act on building the life you desire.

Group Composition

Groups are comprised of between 8 and 10 men with a background of leadership and success.  The Anvil Mastermind is a closed group that offers membership through invitation only.  All potential candidates are scrutinized and evaluated by an interview and assessment process to screen only individuals that will be positive additions to the program.  As groups evolve – people move on to different phases of their lives – we will add new members to existing groups only with the unanimous consent of the group members.  New members have a four-week probationary period when first joining a group where either the individual or the group may terminate the membership in that group.

Commitment

All members are asked to make a six-month (two quarter) commitment upon enrollment.  Membership is on a quarterly basis thereafter with quarterly fees due prior to the beginning of the quarter.  Members must commit to attending a minimum of eight (8) weekly meetings over the course of each quarter or may be asked to leave the program.  All members are assigned to a group. If, for whatever reason, a member would like to leave their current group but does not wish to leave the program, arrangements will be made to move into the next available group opening.

Separation and Termination

If a participant reaches a season in life where they recognize their need to move on, we ask that they present that desire to their entire group during their regular meeting.  This allows the group to bless the participant on their future endeavors and thank them for their time and input within the group.

Where there is no counsel, the people fail; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.

Proverbs 11:14
